The origin story of Sherlocked was that she and her husband bought her MIL and FIL's house and they were supposed to move out but never did. SIL comes over every Tuesday with her kids and without asking expects someone to feed all of them, and Sherlocked generally keeps getting guilted into things for SIL and MIL. Then SIL and MIL decided that SIL's child's birthday party (which a lot of other children and families would be attending) was going to be hosted at Sherlock's house without asking her, I believe it was also on a Tuesday night or something when she had to work. They didn't ask her and they didn't expressly ask her to help (which they couldn't do outright before the party because they hadn't asked her about the party although they kept hinting) so she decided that it was not her problem and didn't help. At one point during the party they wanted her to help and she said she was sure they could handle it and went off to admire the walls.
The ongoing issues with the in-laws are worth following her for. A lot of readers found strength in her resistance and have been following her lead. It’s been so interesting!
